Kathy and Ed are in business, but
personally love log home living.
So when you deal with Kathy and
Ed you are dealing with people
who
know and what they are doing.

We can build the home, or just
the shell, for you or they have
aligned themselves with the best
and most experienced
contractors available to give you
reliable references for services
they do not do directly.

We are known for our service
"after the sale"  whether is
helping you do it yourself or
helping you find the right
solutions provided by others.
A Bit of History
The company was started in 1974 as G&E Wood Tech by Ed
and his brother George, thus the name G&E.  Ed was getting
a degree in Wood Products Engineering at Syracuse at the
time and his brother worked at Kodak.  To make a long story
short they both already had experience building houses and
designing and remodeling kitchens, but had young families to
support and limited their 1st real service to supply firewood
to neighbors, while they each pursued their careers.  The
rest is history.   Now Kathy and Ed keep the company going
by bringing their experience to the table.  You will also see
one of Ed's other brothers, Doug, helping build the homes.
MountainView Log Homes is our exclusive log home business.

Together they have raised four children, built 5 homes for
themselves in various climates and managed to stay married
for 40+ years.   Kathy pursued a degree in gerontology.   Ed
continued in the area of wood science and forestry.   Ed is
the wood technology person and architectural designer, while
Kathy is the decorator and organizer.  As a team they can't
be matched.

As for Ed's technical experience, it includes years of
building and remodeling from all aspects of the process from
design to hands on building!   12 years in the kitchen cabinet
industry included everything from design to installation and
sales.   He even won a national design award.  In wood
products manufacturing he worked in plywood and lumber
operations as well as the land management and timber
operations.   As a wood scientist in his younger years, he
studied wood in depth and is a lifetime member of the
Forest Products Research Society.
